CASE STUDY: INDUSTRIAL CT IN ASSEMBLY TESTING
Automated CT inspection FOR SEALS
Challenge:
When installing a valve in the cooling circuit, a shaft with a lever must be used. This lever is actuated by an actuator. Pre-assembled seals are designed to prevent coolant from escaping. When inserting the shaft, pressure can be exerted on the seals, which in rare cases can lead to crushing. As a result, the sealing lips no longer lie correctly against the housing.
Possible consequences:
Coolant may escape after repeated operation. The effect increases over time, eventually leading to visible puddles of coolant under the vehicle.
Advantages of a CT test:
- Cost-effective and fast 100% inspection thanks to automated processes
- No need for costly design revisions (no new injection molds, iterations or sampling processes required)
- Digitization and AI-supported evaluation of all parts in one step (e.g. 30 parts of a container)
- Archiving of analysis data enables proof of quality-compliant parts in the event of subsequent field failures
